My first bike was given to me when I was 7 years old…When it came time to get a bigger bike, it was up to me. I saved up by mowing yards for at least 6 months…my parents payed the sales taxes and also bought a new helmet. I was a rewarding experience.

my parents bought me a quad when I was 8 and they got my brother a quad and my other brother a dirt bike and my dad got a dirt bike and a harley. we also had a little 50 dirtbike for the whole family. None of them were holiday gifts and we didn’t need to earn them. My parents just wanted something that we could all do together, and no, we’re not extremely rich. Each ine was in the $500-$1200 range.

My husband got a dirtbike when he was maybe a few years younger than being a teenager. He absolutely loved it. He’s too old and out of shape to continue riding now (work, family, etc.). It was the best thing that happend to him. He wrecked many times, but that made him more determined to do better on it next time.

His wasn’t for good grades though. He got it just because his parents wanted to give it to him. They used it against him many times, which was really hurtful to him. If he did something they didn’t approve of they took it. They were extremely strict anyway.

I would recommend getting it for good grades and continue using good grades as a reason to keep it. If the grades drop, take the bike. I wouldn’t use it against him for every wrong doing. Kids have to be kids and learn from their mistakes and move on.

His was for Christmas. It was 3-4k then, but he got a fairly small one. They’re expensive, but now’s the time to get one with the economy so low. People are dying to sell. Make them come off the price though. Don’t back down. Work places against each other. Call another place and say you’re looking at one here and give them the price and say you’ll buy from them if they beat this person’s price. It works every time.

My daughter has to earn her motorcycle by keeping good grades. She will get one on her 16th b-day instead of a car. On a motorcycle she wont be driving in bad weather, she can't use a phone to text or call (no distracted driving), only one friend can drive with her, gas is cheaper and so is insurance best of all it is very hard to get pregnant in the back seat of one. This just seems like a safer option all around. She is also getting a 250cc which can go over 80mph but isn't permitted on the free ways due to size.

my boyfriends ma brought him a motorbike for his birthday because he had just made MVP and So I think he deserved it, hes 14 and I think it was 500- 900 dollars.
