This exciting clip comes from the movie, “The No Mercy Man” (1973), now in the public domain. It is also known as “Trained to Kill” and “Trained to Kill: U.S.A.”. You can find out about this and many other movies on my website at www.polarblairsden.com.
I like the whole movie, but this is definitely the best moment. Steve Sandor (credited as Stephen Sandor) plays the hero Olie Hand. He’s been pushed just a little too far by the likes of Sid Haig (the bald and bearded bad guy) and Rockne Tarkington (the black gang leader). What’s cool about this part is that this gang of bad guys terrorize everybody the whole movie, and Olie wipes them out in just a few minutes! I would say the rating equivalent of this clip is PG-13. There’s violence, but nothing gory. Some of the stuff that’s implied, though, is definitely of a PG-13 quality.
Sid Haig plays his typical bad guy characterization. Rockne Tarkington is actually a very good actor in the movie, as well as being a martial arts expert and all around tough guy. You don’t really get to see too much of the acting ability of anyone in this particular clip, as it’s just meant to be a battle royale. Steve Sandor, however, gives us a very convincing performance of a man that’s gone over the edge. This is cool stuff!
