@HasJuice: I …
@HasJuice: I seriously doubt it. At the rate he’s going, we’ll all be flying around on our hoverbikes by the time he gets the bike wet. Brevity is a virtue.

Another reason to …
Another reason to spend a few minutes washing a bike by hand is from a safety aspect. Whilst washing you are more likely to spot problems like badly adjusted chains, nails in tyres, loose bolts, worn cables, etc.. A little maintenance often is better (and cheaper!) than a lot of maintenance less frequently.

Dish washing liquid …
Dish washing liquid is very good at removing fat from dishes. It doesn’t distinguish between fat on dishes and the protective layer of wax on your paint work. Once that wax has been removed, many washing liquids contain abrasives which will leave tiny scratches on the paintwork. Over repeated washes this will lead to the paint becoming dull. So unless you have VERY gentle dish washing liquid and you re-wax after every wash, don’t use it – use Car/bike shampoo

No, as long as your not leaving it drenched or pointing the pressure washer straight at them… just avoid close contact with those sort of things, Inc tyre valves. I mean they are designed to be in contact with weather…. its no different to getting caught in the rain :)

Hey, you got some …
Hey, you got some good videos. One thing I would point out is that its not good to use a sponge because youll get swirls where it just pushes the grit around. I use a micro fibber cloth (or 2) in stead. Sponges are fine for wheels, swing arm etc. (I know you said not to use a pressure washer, but I think, as long as your not stupid with it or use an industrial size one there great).

My Quick Guide:

My Quick Guide:
You will need:
Bucket, warm soapy water (with car shampoo of some sort), Sponge, Pressure washer (wide+Fine spray), several micro fibber cloths (2 for wet + 2 for drying + 1 for polish/wax), spray wash (I use a mix of Muckoff, washing up liquid, car shampoo and water) & spray on wax (great stuff)

First of all give …
First of all give the whole bike a spray down with the pressure washer to get any lose dirt off.
With your bucket of water mix and sponge, wash all round your tyres, wheels, swing arm, forks etc. and leave soapy.
Using your wet micro fibber cloth, cover all faring and painted areas with you water mix. This will get any oil, bugs etc. off. And then using the pressure washer, rinse all soap off (including any on your wheels/tyres)

Then with your …
Then with your spray mix, spray all you fairing and tank & leave for a few moments.
After a few moments, wash off all excess soap etc.
(I will usually start my engine up at this point for a min or so to clear/dry exhaust etc. )
Now with your dry cloths (leaving one free and clean for polishing) go over all parts of your bike a dry thoroughly (I will usually keep one for bottom half and one for top).

You could go over …
You could go over your wheels at this point with a dry cloth just to get any final break/road/oil muck off them. Same goes for exhaust and any other parts alike.
Once every thing has dried, get you spray wax and final cloth and working in sections, work around the bike spraying and polishing in the wax on all fairings and tank (This is where it really shines and its not hard!!!)
The only thing to do now it to give every thing a once over, re-lube and make sure she runs
